Merrisa is a Houston-based freelance writer, editor and marketer who has loved making words work since she was a child, winning her first creative writing competition at the age of 10. She went on to obtain her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Texas A&M University, land her first editing gig straight out of college and ultimately launch a nearly 20-year career in marketing and corporate communications. Her experience includes everything from magazine and book editing, to business and personal blogging, to ghostwriting for big-company CEOs. In 2013, Merrisa became accredited by the International Association of Business Communicators, a rigorous process that attests to her competency and strategic mindset.

Her professional career has been largely focused in the services industry, and she also maintains a mom blog in her spare time. During the course of her career, her communications programs have garnered numerous awards from organizations such as the Association for Accounting Marketing (MAA Awards), International Association of Business Communicators (Bronze Quill Awards), Public Relations Society of America (Excalibur Awards), American Business Awards (The Stevies) and more.
